Joseph Eugene Barile, age 75, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in his residence following a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Born in Parma, Ohio on January 9, 1950, Joe was a son of the late Sam and Phyllis King Barile.
Following his graduation from Valley Forge High School, Joe earned a Bachelor of Arts from Ohio University. He also studied at the Ohio Highway Patrol Academy and the US Coastguard Training School. His professional career spanned 30 years as an employee of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Watercraft and retired as Eastern Ohio Regional Manager.
He is survived by Dee, his wife of 31 years, whose steady and loyal partnership was the foundation of their life together. He leaves behind three children: Kendra (Jerry) Kovach of Cuyahoga Falls, Robyn (Ryan) Mullen of Cincinnati, and Krista (Nick) Ames of New Philadelphia; and eight grandchildren, Ella Kovach, Olivia (Jared), Cooper, Paige, and Quinn Mullen, and Pierson, Jaxson, Koleson Ames; he is also survived by his brother, Steve (Sue); his nieces and nephews; and his beloved canine companions, Marley, Duffy, Kenzi, and feline friend Nakita.
Joe was an avid sports fan who loved playing golf, cheering on the Cleveland Sports teams, coaching Softball, and cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting activities. He was known for his love of lighthouses and his extensive collection of lighthouse figurines. Joe had a passion for coin collecting which he loved to share with his grandchildren. Joe also had a great passion for history and enjoyed trips to Europe and the West Coast.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a brother, Sam Barile.
Per his request there will be no services. A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate Joe’s life with his family and close friends. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling arrangements.
