John Wayne Youngman, age 83, formerly of Dover died, Wednesday, August 3, 2022, while in the care of Legends Care Center at Massillon.
Born in Brewster, Ohio on October 15, 1938, John was a son of the late Richard Lee Smith and Betty Jean Thomas Youngman.
John attended school at Beach City and in California and served in the United States Airforce. Upon his discharge, John was employed by the railroad for many years prior to joining the custodial staff at Greer Steel. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed the midnight shift with the Times Reporter where he delivered newspaper bundles to the carriers and local stores.
Throughout his lifetime, John enjoyed bowling and playing Bocce Ball. He also loved traveling with his wife and eating out at local restaurants. John also loved driving, having made many cross-country trips.
John is survived by his wife, Rosalie Youngman; his sons, Ty (Sherri) Youngman, and David (Lisa) Youngman; his stepsons, Bob (Gretchen) Fincher, and Ron (Carrie) Fincher; a sister, Lina Manac; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a stepson, Steve Fincher.
A memorial celebration of John’s life will be led by Rick Slaman on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at 6:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. The family will greet guests one hour prior to the service from 5:00 – 6:00 PM.
