Jerry Lee Bishop, Sr., age 72, of Strasburg, died Monday, September 14, 2026, while in the care of Select Specialty Hospital in Canton, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia on September 6, 1954, Jerry was a son of the late James Bishop and Mary Hudson Tidrick.

Jerry attended the former Jewett-Scio High School and spent the majority of his professional life as a cabinet maker. In his free-time, Jerry enjoyed watching traffic from his driveway, and mowing not only his own lawn, but the lawns of his friends and neighbors.

Always one to arrive early to any function, Jerry enjoyed golfing, fishing, and coaching. Over the years, he coached baseball, softball, and football, and even had a brief stint as a basketball coach. A jokester with a quick wit, Jerry loved making others laugh and was always ready to stir up a little mischief, especially when he was with his family. For several years, Jerry also brought smiles to children and families as he played Santa Claus.

Surviving is his wife of nearly 48 years the former Lisa Robinson, whom he married on September 16, 1978; his daughters, Lerinda (Rick) Schupp of Cadiz, and Jamie (James) Perrenoud of Uhrichsville; his “adopted” daughter, Julie Zelaya of New York; grandchildren, Brandi (Bryan) Fitak, Zoe Schupp, Skyler Jackson, Colton, Perrenoud, Brady Perrenoud, Manny Perrenoud, Evan Natalie Perrenoud, Ashley (Eric) Ferguson, Trenton (Kaylee) Bishop, Hunter Porter, and Cricket Porter; and his great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Analeigha, Hanleigh, Aiden, and Spencer.

Completing the family are Jerry’s brothers, John (Donna) Bishop of Hopedale, and James “Woody” (Brenda) Bishop; his mother-in-law, Maxine Robinson of Dover; his nieces and nephews and many close friends.

In addition to his mother and father, Jerry was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Bishop, Jr.; his step-father, Hartzel Tidrick, and sisters, Penny Supinski, and Marsha Tidrick.

In honoring Jerry’s wishes, a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Geib Funeral Center at Dover is handling arrangements.
