Janice Thornburg

Janice Thornburg (Tipple), 76 years old, of Mentor, Ohio passed away at Hennis Care Centre of Dover on March 1, 2026, after a brief but courageous battle with brain cancer. Janice grew up in Willowick, Ohio and graduated from North High School. She went on to become an office manager at Cleveland Crane and Burrier Service Co.

Janice married her husband, William Thornburg, in 1988 and they shared 37 beautiful years with each other until her passing. Jan and Bill traveled throughout the country, experiencing the best of food, entertainment, and history in places like New Orleans, Louisiana, Key West, Florida and Memphis, Tennessee. Anyone that knew Janice prior to Bill entering her life knows what a calm, compassionate and comforting presence he gave her. They were not only husband and wife, but each other’s best friend. A simple trip to the bank or grocery store was a shared adventure and never ended without a trip to Starbucks to share Jan’s favorite, a mocha latte and egg bites, while sitting in each other's company.

Jan enjoyed gardening, baking, and spending as much time and possible with friends and family. Visitors at the home of Bill and Jan were always met with a warm meal and whatever home baked goods Jan had on hand (which was always a plentiful supply). Birthdays were always celebrated no matter the distance shared. USPS and FedEx workers became familiar with Bill and Jan due to frequent visits to mail cards, cookies, pies, and cakes to loved ones in celebration of birthdays or milestones. Jan looked forward to daily calls with her granddaughter and great grandson (Harrison). There was never a call ended without Jan lovingly saying, “Give that little boy a kiss for me”.

To know Janice was to know unconditional love and kindness. She will be missed and forever remembered by her husband, daughter Julie (son-in-law Joe) Mrosko, granddaughter Chandler (Matt) Dyer, great grandson Harrison, sister Joanne Litwinick, stepdaughter Shannon Thornburg and other friends and family members.

Janice is reunited with her loved ones that she missed so dearly - what a reunion this must be in heaven.

Cremation will take place through the care of the Geib Funeral Center in Dover, Ohio. No services are planned at this time.
