Janet Renner

Janet K. Renner, age 85 of New Philadelphia passed away early Thursday, July 3, 2025 after a rapid decline in health beginning May 28, 2025.

Born in her family farm on December 12, 1939, the only daughter in a family of boys, to Loren and Harriet (Hawk) Beaber.

Janet was a 1957of New Philadelphia High School. After graduation she began a career in various jobs including Siff Shoe Store, Jaffe Dress Shop, where the required dress was a black dress and a strand of pearls. Six months after the birth of her daughter, Janet began a 40-year career at Warner and Swasey’s where she retired as a field service parts representative, after all the years of striking the keyboard, it wore off her fingerprints. She also worked part-time in the paint department and Montgomery Wards for “fun money.” Janet and Marv owned and operated Renner Refuse, Janet did all the bookkeeping and route mapping.

In her free-time, Janet was an avid reader, and frequently attended local card parties and bridge clubs. Never meeting a sequin or something shiny she did not like, she was a gifted shopper on QVC, especially the “Quacker Factory” (IYKYK). Janet was generous and loved to send cards to people for any occasion. Honor Janet’s memory by using “snail mail.”

Janet’s faith was formed in Jerusalem Church where she was a member for her entire life.

She married Marvin Renner on September 2, 1961 and together they enjoyed 58 years of marriage before his passing in March of 2020. They were the proud parents to Dianna Harmon. Janet was also active in Dianna’s activities. She was a brownie leader, directed the children’s choir, followed the marching band for four years, and became the house that all the friends wanted to visit.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Dianna Harmon. And is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin L. Renner; three older brothers, Bill, Burt, and Dave Beaber; and son-in-law, Jon Harmon.
