Jane E. Nelson "Together Again"

Jane E. Nelson, a remarkable soul who touched the lives of many with her kindness, humor, and unwavering faith, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024, at Walnut Hills Nursing Home at Walnut Creek at the age of 85.

Born on July 2, 1938, in Houston Texas, she was the daughter of the late Gasque F. and Durstine (Choice) Oglesby. Jane's journey was one defined by dedication and compassion. She graduated from McKinley High School in Canton in 1957 and went on to serve others through her work for over three decades. Her career saw her retire in 1989 from General Telephone after 32 years of service, followed by a stint as a receptionist for Massillon Chiropractic before ultimately retiring from the Village of Brewster in 1998 where she also had worked as a receptionist.

Jane's warm personality was a beacon of light to all who knew her. Always welcoming and with a great sense of humor, she had a unique gift for making those around her feel at ease. Her faith was a central part of her life, and she was a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church in New Philadelphia.

On October 17, 1956, in East Canton, Jane married the love of her life, James Nelson and together they shared over 52 years of marriage before his passing in February 2009. Jane is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and John Craig of Stone Creek and her cousin, Sherry Vestal of Red Oak, Texas.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Jane was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Oglesby and three sisters-in-law, Betty Hawk, Rita Reffuse and Bobbie Scott.

Friends are invited to come on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 1 to 2 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia where a funeral service honoring Jane’s life will begin at 2 PM with Pastor Don Snow officiating.
