James F. Garabrandt, Sr. age 87, of the Inn at Northwood, Dover, and formerly of New Philadelphia, died peacefully late Thursday, July, 16, 2026, while under the care of Crossroads Hospice.

Born in Dover, Ohio on August 13, 1938, Jim was a son of the late John W. and Vera J. Junkins Garabrandt.

Jim was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School and was employed by Joy Manufacturing at New Philadelphia for 32 years.

Jim was known as a devoted care taker to his beloved wife, Pearl and his daughter, Patty. He enjoyed family gatherings, attending the sporting activities of his great-grandchildren, and spending time with friends at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center.

He is survived by two children, James (Kristi) Garabrandt, Jr. of Dover and Tammy Harker of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Josh (Kasey) Garabrandt, Sarah (Steve Griffin) Hamlin, Destiny (Tyler McDade) Garabrandt, Matthew Bates, Michael (Katie) Miller, Daniel (Megan) Miller, Preston (Kathia) Lehman, Krista (Duane) Raber, and Heath (Tori Husk) Drescher, numerous great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl; his daughter, Patricia “Patty” Garabrandt; and a brother, Keith Garabrandt.

In honoring his wishes, private family services were held. Burial alongside his wife and daughter took place in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
