Jack L. Phillips

Jack L. Phillips, 81, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 3, 2021 in Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia, following a period of declining health.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late William J. and Dorothy M. (Letzkus) Phillips and a graduate of New Philadelphia High School. Following graduation, Jack attended the Valley Forge Military Academy Prep School and College at Wayne, Pennsylvania and Howard Payne University in Big Spring, Texas. Following college, Jack enlisted and served with the United States Marine Corps.

Following his discharge from the Marines, Jack joined his father at Reese Cast Stone at Dover and in 1975, purchased the company from his father. Jack operated the company until 1984 when he sold the company and began his professional career in Real Estate. Jack was licensed Sales Agent and also licensed as a Real Estate Broker having worked for a number of Real Estate Agencies. Ultimately retiring from Kiko Reality in 2019.

Jack was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at New Philadelphia and the National Association of Realtors; a member and Past-President of the Tuscarawas County Board of Realtors; Past President of the Tuscarawas County Home Builders; a former board member of Union Country Club and the Tuscarawas County YMCA.

On November 23, 1963, Jack married Carol A. (Wertenberger) Phillips and together they shared over 57 years of marriage before his passing. Also surviving are three sons, Tim Phillips of New Philadelphia, Matthew Phillips of Huntington Beach, California and Mark Phillips of Canton; his two granddaughters, who were the loves of his life, Hannah M. Miles and Ryian N. Phillips and a brother William Phillips of Hawaii.

In keeping with Jack’s wishes, he is to be cremated through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

The family requests that memorial contributions, in Jack’s honor, be made to Community Hospice Truman House, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.

Lastly, Jack was proud of the fact that during his real estate career, he participated in over 1500 commercial and residential sales and especially thanks Jeff Mathias and Kathy Pietro for their valued contribution to his career in Real Estate.
