Irene Bahorek Smokovich, age 79, of Jacksonville, NC, died Saturday, September 10, 2011, in Pitt County Memorial Hospital at Greenville. Mrs. Smokovich is survived by her husband, Walter J. Smokovich of the home; two daughters, Lynn Smokovich of Jacksonville and Lori Broas of McKinney, TX; and six grandchildren.A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev. Ernest Ruede in the Infant of Prague Catholic Church at Jacksonville, NC. A graveside service led by Father Anthony Lonzo will be held Saturday, September 17, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
