Ida Walker, age 88, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 13, 2026.
Born in Sherrodsville on February 4, 1938, Ida was the daughter of the late Otis T. Walker, Sr. and Lorinda Mary (Hilton) Walker.
She graduated in 1956 from Conotton Valley High School. Her faith was deeply rooted at Roxford Church in Dennison, where she remained a devoted member. She was employed as a press operator at the former Handy & Harman.
Ida found her greatest joy in spending time with her family—especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who meant everything to her. She also had a passion for gardening, with a special love for flowers and tending to her yard. In addition, she enjoyed crafts, particularly cross-stitching.
She embraced life fully, finding happiness in all she did, and lived it with a deep and abiding faith in God.
Ida is survived by her children, Carl “Rocky” (Mary) Eichel, Jr. of Carrollton, Gerald “Stoney” Eichel of New Philadelphia, and Carla (fiancé, Jamie Utt) Watson of Marietta; grandchildren, Bobbi Jo Watson, Angela (Tony) Beal, Jerry (Nicole) Watson, Jr., Sheri Lee Eichel, Crystal Eichel and Kimberly Eichel; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis (Richard) Michael of Lakeland, Florida, Hilda Baldwin of New Philadelphia, Janice (Keith) Jones of Magnolia, and two brothers; Gerald “Mickey” Walker of Somerdale, and Otis (Ginnie) Walker Jr. of Sherrodsville
Ida was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Lee Eichel; brother, Donald J. Walker; sister, Roberta Mae Clark; great-grandson, Joshua Watson; and son-in-law, Jerry Watson, Sr.
Friends are invited to call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Brother Jim Manbeck will officiate Ida’s funeral on Tuesday morning at 10:30 in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow at East Avenue Cemetery. Following the committal service, a reception will be given in the Roxford Family Life Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Roxford Family Life Center, 771 Roxford Church Road SE, Dennison, OH 44621.
