Howard F. Bultman, 92, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, November 14, 2008 in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover.A son of the late Leo Bultman and Elizabeth (Messling) Bultman, Howard was born July 10, 1916 at Franklin County, Indiana.Howard was a graduate of Short High School at Liberty, Indiana. His first jobs were with a local grocer and clothier. In 1942, he married his wife, Mildred, also of Franklin County. When World War II began, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the European Theatre with the 39th Evacuation Hospital as a supply officer. He retired from active duty with the rank of Captain. He returned to complete his education at Miami University at Oxford, Ohio living with his wife and daughter in Miami’s “Veteran’s Village” and graduating with a degree in accounting.Howard took his family to Richmond, Indiana and he worked as a field examiner for the State of Indiana until his retirement. Howard was a member of Reed Memorial United Presbyterian Church at Richmond, Indiana. He was a model railroad enthusiast and woodworker as well.Howard is survived by his daughters, Betty Jo Bultman of Palatine, Illinois and Kathy Burns of New Philadelphia, Ohio; two grandchildren, Rachel and Joel Burns; a niece, Nancy Brown of Indiana and two nephews, Tom Bultman of Illinois and Bill Bultman of New Jersey.He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Elizabeth Bultman; his wife of 60 years, Mildred (Eaton) Bultman who passed away on January 13, 2003; a brother, Charles Bultman and two step-brothers, Harold and Hershel Brown.Howard’s family will hold a private service and public calling hours will be on Thursday, November 20, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.Contributions may be made in Howard’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
