Helen B. Kollar, age 98, of Baltic and formerly of New Philadelphia, died Friday, August 7, 2026, in her daughter’s residence.
Born in the family’s Mineral City home on March 26, 1928, Helen was one of 12 children born to the late John and Veronica (Elmerick) Stotzer.
A 1947 graduate of the former Mineral City School, she married Lytal V. “Vic” Kollar on April 10, 1949. Together the couple shared nearly 70 years of marriage prior to his passing on March 12, 2019.
Helen was a member of the New Philadelphia First United Methodist Church and lovingly cared for her family. She enjoyed baking, cooking, and showed her deep love and joy for people through her hugs and smile.
Surviving are her daughters, Margaret “Peg” (Bob) Adams of Sugarcreek and Rebecca (Denny) Egler of Baltic; a son, Joseph (Debra) Kollar of New Philadelphia; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Janet Stotzer, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by a son, Gary Kollar; a grandson, Michael Kollar; her sisters, Mary Kilchenmann, Martha “Marty” Leeman, Clara Vogt, Grace Specht, Frieda Lieser, Ruth Breniser, and Ida Pepper Shaffer, and brothers, John Stotzer, Walter Stotzer, Bob Stotzer, and Fritz Stotzer.
The family will greet guests on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 10 – 11 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Pastor Ryan Cockrill will lead a service in the funeral home’s chapel beginning at 11 AM. Burial will follow in the Ridgecrest Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank Helen’s care team at Ohio’s Hospice for their attentive care over the past four years and ask that memorial contributions in her name be directed to the Ohio’s Hospice Foundation, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
