Harold E. Kerns

Harold E. Kerns, 77, of New Philadelphia, went to be with our Lord and Savior on October 25, 2021.

Born into a loving family on February 12, 1944 at Dennison, he was the son of the late Joseph and Daisy (French) Kerns and enjoyed his childhood with his parents and siblings in the old log home.

He enjoyed all types of antique cars, hunting deer or just looking for deer in the valley and was a lifetime member of the Yellow Jackets Motorcycle Club at Uhrichsville. He worked hard all of his life and went on to become a successful Owner and Operator of the former Harold Kerns Excavating at New Philadelphia.

Harold is survived by his only daughter, Denise (Andy) Ruggeri of Dover; his grandchildren, Nicole Ruggeri and her fiancé, Isaac Knight and Nathan Ruggeri; his twin brother and faithful friend, Gerald Kerns; his brothers, Ken (Darla) Kerns, Dean Kerns and Rich Kerns; his sister, Sandy (Monty) Davis; his longtime companion, Sue Jones and her children, Mike Jones and Tina (Andy) Arnold and their girls, Jayden and McKinlee.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Lyons) Kerns; two brothers, Jerry Kerns and Joe Kerns and a sister, Shirley Ann Armstrong.

In keeping with his wishes, Harold is to be cremated through the care of the Geib Funeral Center at Dover and a private family graveside service will be held in Ridgecrest Memorial Gardens at Dover. The family will host a celebration of Harold’s life on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 11 AM in the Burning River Church at Dover with Pastor Hombre Liggett officiating.

The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to either Community Hospice – Truman House, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663, or, Greater Dover/New Philadelphia Food Pantry, 420 West Third Street, Dover, Ohio 44622.
