Frittz R. McGinnis, 56, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully in his home, while surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 23, 2024, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born in Cincinnati, Frittz was one of 12 children born to the late Jack and Irma (Lawson) McGinnis and was an honorably discharged veteran having served in the United States Army Reserve. Frittz was employed by the State of Ohio Department of Transportation at New Philadelphia as a Realty Specialist, III. Frittz dedicated much of his free time to the Tuscarawas County Special Olympics Program where he volunteered as a coach for many of their sports. Frittz also dedicated his time as a coach for Tuscarawas Central Catholic Schools and recreational baseball leagues in the Midvale area. He was also an avid fan of his beloved Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals. More than anything else, Frittz dearly loved his family. They meant the world to him.
On June 13, 1998, Frittz married the love of his life, Denise M. (DeMattio) and together they raised their two sons, Austin and Bailey McGinnis. Also surviving are his siblings, Linda Girdler, Kathryn Costa, Carolyn Leach, Jack McGinnis, Jr., John McGinnis, David McGinnis, Laurie Couch, and Thomas McGinnis, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Frittz was preceded in death by brothers, James McGinnis and William McGinnis and sister, Barbara Hammons.
In keeping with his wishes, Cremation care is to be provided by the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and the family will host a celebration of Frittz’s life on Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 12 to 4 pm in the family residence at New Philadelphia.
It was Frittz’s desire that memorial contributions be directed to the Tuscarawas County Special Olympics, 610 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
