Frederick “Fred” Sullivan, a proud Irishman, died peacefully, Monday, February 12, 2024, while in the care of Park Village Southside, after a 21-year diagnosis with prostate cancer.
Born on April 25, 1952, in Union Hospital at Dover, Fred was a son of the late Joseph Francis and Shirley May (Gribble) Sullivan.
Fred was a 1971 graduate of Indian Valley North High School and on August 19, 1972, married his best friend and wife of 51 years, Trudy, who preceded him in passing last month on January 5. Together, the couple had two daughters and countless family adventures.
Fred’s professional career spanned 42 years with the former Union Camp, where he made lifelong, treasured friendships with his co-workers. He and Trudy loved to vacation at Myrtle Beach and enjoyed sharing evenings at the local veteran’s organizations with their circle of friends. Fred also had an eternal love of Mustangs, loved to tend to his garden and flowers, and was an avid Notre Dame fan.
Most importantly, he cherished his “girls”, Trudy, Lori and Ellie, and his grandchildren. He loved creating memories with them and revisited those treasured memories.
Fred will be deeply missed by his family including his daughters, Lori (Rob) Henning of New Philadelphia and Ellie (G.A.) Wentz of South Carolina; four grandchildren, Nick and Vinnie Henning and Ethan and Juliana Wentz; his sister, Sue (Todd) Tinker of Atlanta, Georgia; his brother-in-law, Floyd (Dalene) Swinderman of New Philadelphia; sister-in-law, Pat (Cliff) Nickerson of Columbus; and his nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends.
In keeping with Fred’s wishes there will be no public visitation or services. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling cremation care.
The family requests memorial contributions in Fred’s name be directed to Lifeway Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
