Fred T. Pixler

Fred Theodore Pixler, Jr., 78, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, December 7, 2007 in Mercy Medical Center at Canton.Born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1929 in Morgantown, West Virginia, Fred was the son of the late Fred T. and Bertha G. (Morris) Pixler.After completing his formal education, Fred married the love of his life, Lillian S. Pixler who preceded him in death on April 10, 1977.Fred honorably serviced our country in the United States Army during the Korean War, before joining the professional work force as a civil engineer. He retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation and enjoyed spending time in the outdoors and researching his family’s past. Fred was a member of the Schoenbrunn Moravian Church and the National Society of Professional Engineers.Fred will be sadly missed by his children, John (Cinda) Pixler of New Philadelphia and Fred Pixler of Canton; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his wife, Fred was preceded in death by two sisters and one niece.Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Monday December 10, 2007 from 5 to 8 p.m. A service celebrating Fred’s life will be lead by The Rev. Sue Koenig, in the funeral home’s chapel on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m.Burial alongside his wife will immediately follow the service at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia.The family requests memorial contributions be directed to either the Schoenbrunn Moravian Church, 2200 E.
