Fortunata “Forchy” Menapace, 99, of Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia, passed away on Friday, January 09, 2009 in Country Club Retirement Campus at Dover.Forchy was born November 2, 1909 to the late Max and Anna (Manini) Dapoz in Loretto, Michigan and lived most of her life in New Philadelphia.Forchy attended New Philadelphia Schools. She was formerly employed at Sad Iron and she also worked as a pattern supervisor for many years at Snyder Manufacturing both at New Philadelphia.On September 27, 1934, Forchy married Antonio “Tony” Menapace. The couple shared 67 years of marriage prior to Tony’s passing in 2001. Forchy and Tony had one daughter, Maxine Marcaletti who passed away in 1998.She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia as well as the Altar Society. Forchy enjoyed gardening and was the recipient of many awards for her produce. The aromas of freshly made treats were always common in her home with her favorite being Italian pizzelle cookies. She spent countless hours knitting and crocheting. Her family and friends grew to love her keepsakes and she was always willing to accommodate their requests for more.She is survived by her son-in-law; Richard (Cheryl) Marcaletti of New Philadelphia; three grandchildren, Rick and Quint Marcaletti and Dianne Albaugh; four great grandchildren, Curt Marcaletti, Monica (Bill) Hawk and Alyssa and Anthony Albaugh; a sister-in-law, Noela Pinamonti of Italy; two brothers-in-law, Eugene Donofrio of New Philadelphia and Alessio Menapace of Italy and many nieces and nephews.Forchy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tony; her daughter, Maxine; one sister, Zita Donofrio and three brothers, John, Chester, and Max Dapoz.Family and friends may call on Monday, January 12, 2009 from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia with Monsignor George Schlegel officiating.
