Obituary

Elvin Lloyd Sprankle, 84, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, passed away on April 25, 2026, at Union Hospital following a period of declining health.

Born in Magnolia on October 20, 1941, he was the 17th and last child born to the late Raymond P. and Bertha (Fiddler) Sprankle.

On August 24, 1964, Elvin married the love of his life, Judith M. (Keith) Sprankle. Together, they built a strong and loving family that remained the center of his world.

A devoted father and grandfather, Elvin cherished time spent with his family. He was known for his sense of humor and playful spirit, often joking and making others laugh. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, and mushroom hunting. Some of his happiest moments were spent riding around on the lawnmower with his grandchildren.

Elvin proudly served in the National Guard and dedicated more than twenty years of his career to New Philadelphia Welding.

Elvin is survived by his children: Elvin (Mary) Sprankle Jr., Steve Sprankle, Brian (Cindy) Sprankle, Tammy Sprankle, Kevin Sprankle, and Jody Sprankle. He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sixteen siblings; and one great-grandson.
