Ellen Luyster

Ellen Luyster, age 98, of New Philadelphia passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023, in Park Village Nursing Home at New Philadelphia, after a period of declining health.

Born on the family farm in Guernsey County Ohio on December 28, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Estella (Eddy) Williams.

Ellen worked for many years at Fab Ohio as a press operator.  She loved to sew and quilt.  But her greatest love was worshipping with her family at New Philadelphia Church of Christ. 

On December 29, 1946 she married Ray Luyster.  Together they celebrated 56 years of marriage before his passing in December of 2002. 

Ellen is survived by her children, Joyce (Josiah) Gray, Sr. of New Philadelphia, Cindy (Mike) Forstrom of Mason, and Christopher (Connie) Luyster of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Josiah (Sue) Gray, Jason (Kim Moulton) Gray, Amanda (David) Friend, Nicole (Jason) Beck, and Elizabeth (Keith) Carter; great-grandchildren, Josiah Gray III, Cody Gray, Hayley Gray, Austin Specht, Victoria Specht, Taylor Beck, Madison Beck, Charlie Gray, Christin Gray, Caelen Beck, and Adalynn Carter.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Edgar “Bud” Williams.

The family will greet friends on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory in New Philadelphia.  A funeral service will be held at 11:30AM in the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
