Elizabeth L. "Liz" Kelley

Elizabeth L. “Liz” Kelley, 89, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully in Park Village Southside at New Philadelphia.

Born in Barnesville, Liz was one of 12 children born to Eugene and Mabel (Mace) Clark. She had worked in retail for the former Rink’s and Nichols Departments stores but cherished just being a stay-at-home wife and mother. Jokingly she would say that it was always her desire to be a treasure hunter exploring shipwrecks but she would look for treasurers by attending auctions and visiting thrift stores. When she was not hunting for treasurers, she enjoyed gambling and sewing.

Liz was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Lawrence D. Kelley, on August 5, 2019 and  is survived by her three children, a daughter, Marjorie (Greg) Barnes of Galena; her son, William (Rebecca) Kelley of New Philadelphia and a daughter, Mary Jane (Ted) Shetler of Strasburg; two sisters, Mabel McClurg of Dayton and Esther Dailey of Las Cruces, New Mexico; eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Liz was preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation care for Liz will be provided by the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and a graveside service will be conducted at a later date.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of Park Village Southside for the loving care and attention that they provided to Liz and requests that memorial contributions, in Liz’s memory, be directed to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
