Eldon Ray “Froggy” Renner, age 74, of Uhrichsville, joined his family and friends with the Lord early Wednesday evening, January 18, 2012.Born at New Philadelphia, January 31, 1937, he was a son of the late Edwin and Helen Emma Schenk Renner. Eldon attended high school before entering the United States Army at F. Bragg, North Carolina in 1956, and would spend the next three decades in service to the Army, and retired honorably on his forty-third birthday in 1980 as a Staff Sergeant.He was a member of the American Legion.Survivors include his faithful companion Mary Starnes of Uhrichsville, his son Douglas Renner of New Philadelphia, two daughters, Debra Jean Burrier and Holly Marie Eckinger, three sisters; Florence Trustorf of Dover, Ruth Ann Gardner of Barstow, California, and Marlene Scott Greer of Simpsonville SC.Eldon will be missed by a grandson, Matthew Renner, and Eldon’s “special buddy” Rachael Strickroth, of Uhrichsville.Many friends and those in his companion’s family will miss his friendship and goodwill.Friends are invited to call Sunday afternoon from 1-4 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Military honors will be rendered Monday morning at a 9:30 graveside service in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover. Following the committal service, family and friends will gather for a reception in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Those unable to attend are invited to share memories and condolences with the family by visiting the funeral home’s website.
