Dorothy R. Householder

Dorothy R. Householder, 99, of Canton, passed away peacefully in her home on September 12, 2025.

Dorothy lived a full and adventurous life, marked by her love of travel and dedication to nursing. Among her favorite destinations were Portugal and Venice, Italy—places she visited with joy and curiosity. She especially cherished the memories of a six-month world tour she shared with her beloved husband, Charles William Householder, before his passing in 1983 following a battle with cancer.

Dorothy was a lifelong caregiver and proud Registered Nurse. She trained at Aultman Hospital and went on to work at Aultman Hospital, Doctor's Hospital, and spent the majority of her career at Massillon State Hospital. She also served many patients through private duty nursing, always providing compassionate care with unwavering professionalism.

She was the devoted daughter of the late Charles Hershel Baker and Bertha Bell Brugger Baker. Dorothy not only worked full-time as a nurse but also lovingly cared for both her husband and father in their final days at home.

Dorothy was also preceded in death by her dear friend and travel companion, Judy Wentzel.

She is survived by her close friend and neighbor, Brenda Bain; her second cousin, Justine Stefanko; and her good friend, Karen Bricker, along with many others whose lives she touched throughout her long and meaningful life.

Dorothy will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, compassionate heart, and unwavering dedication to those she loved.

A graveside service will be held in Dover Burial Park on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mark Black officiating.
