Doris J. Dague, age 88, of Dover, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Park Village Care Center in Dover after a period of declining health.
Born in Dennison, Ohio on December 23, 1935 she was a daughter of the late John J. and Helen C. (Porcher) Shaffer.
Doris retired from the New Philadelphia City Schools after 30 years of service in the food service department. She was also a lifetime member of Carl C. Stoller Post 1445 VFW. In her spare time, she enjoyed camping at Tappen Lake. For many years while camping she ran the Tappen Lake concession stand. Her faith was nurtured at Pleasant Valley Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children, Jerry M. Dague of Mineral City, Bryan (Lynn) Dague of Dover, Cindy Dague of Dover, Kathryn Swartzel of Dover, and John (Lisa) Dague of Florida; 10 grandchildren, Starr (Michael), Pete (Jessica), Brandon (Natalie), James, Adrianne (Steven), Amanda Jo (Spencer), Tammy, JP (Amanda Marie), Elizabeth and Michael; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Martha Shaffer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doris is proceeded in death by her parents; brothers, Albert Shaffer, Robert Shaffer, Harold (Buff) Shaffer, and Richard Shaffer; and her beloved dogs, Benji and Lady.
The family will greet guests on Monday, December 2, 2024 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Burial will immediately follow at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens.
