Donald Ritenour

Donald Ritenour, Sr, age 86, of New Philadelphia, passed away March 14, 2024 in his home after a period of declining health.

Born in New Philadelphia in his family home on December 18, 1937, he was a son of the late Alexander and Mayme (Beard) Ritenour.

He left high school and spent time in the US Navy.  He then began a career as a truck driver.  Don also loved to attend flea markets and watch the news.

On May 13, 1961 he married the former Nancy Scott.  They enjoyed 46 years of marriage before her passing on May 21, 2007.

Don is survived by his children, Donnie Ritenour, Jr. of New Philadelphia, Chris (J.R.) Howard of Uhrichsville, Carol Ritenour of New Philadelphia, Lisa Stephenson of Dennison, and Tim (April) Ritenour of Mineral City; grandchildren, Robin Ritenour, Ashley Ritenour, Kayla Howard, Tabithia (Ronnie) Cross, Ashley (Brandon) Davidson, Marc (Breanna) Howard, Justin Stephenson, Timmy (Evy) Ritenour, Jr., and Sabrinna Stephenson; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Marques, Landen, Isaac, Jaxon, Corbin, Kyleigh, Raiden, and Ambellinia; sister, Shirley Winkler; life-long friend, Ida Lee Walker; dog, Tiny; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three sisters; and two brothers.

The family will greet guests on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.  A funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 beginning at 10:30 AM.  Friends are also invited to greet the family one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.  Burial will follow at East Ave. Cemetery.
