Donald E. Litman, Jr., 55, passed away on July 2, 2026.
Born on April 20, 1971, in Dover, Ohio, Don spent most of his life in Akron, Ohio, where he built a life centered around family, hard work, and helping others. Don was a true craftsman at heart. He loved working on motorcycles—especially his beloved Harley-Davidsons—and if something was broken, chances are he was already figuring out how to fix it. Whether he was building, repairing, or creating something with his hands, he found purpose in honest work and took pride in doing the job right.
He dedicated many years to the steel industry, including his time at Yarde Metals, where his strong work ethic reflected the kind of man he was. To many, Don looked every bit the tough biker. People who didn’t know him were often intimidated by his appearance, but those lucky enough to know him discovered a man with a soft heart, a generous spirit, and a willingness to help anyone in need. He was resilient, fiercely protective of those he loved, and had a stubborn streak that often became a source of laughter among family and friends. He never hesitated to lend a hand, whether it meant fixing an engine, helping with a project, or simply showing up when someone needed him most.
Above all else, Don loved his family. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to bring smiles, laughter, and comfort to those who knew and loved him.
Don is survived by his mother, Lavina (Ronald J. Maxwell) Litman-Maxwell of Virginia; his sister, Chrystal Litman of Dover; his wife, Vicki Litman of Akron; his children, Jesse (Cassandra) Litman of Florida and Kaila (Matthew Ross) Litman of Akron ; his cherished granddaughters, Viktoria and Samantha Litman; his nephews, Kyle and Justin Litman and Colt (Destiny) Myers; as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Litman Sr.
While our hearts ache in his absence, we choose to remember Don for the life he lived: the roar of a Harley-Davidson, the countless things he built and repaired, the strength with which he faced life’s challenges, the laughter he brought with his stubborn personality, and the kindness that existed beneath his tough exterior. His love, loyalty, and generous heart will continue to live on in everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Friends are invited to join the family at the Geib Funeral Center at Dover on Friday, July 10, 2026 from 10 to 11 a.m. with a service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Dover Burial Park at Dover.
Ride free, Don. Your journey continues in the hearts of those who love you. You will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
