Donald "Ducky" Deem

Donald Ray “Ducky” Deem, age 96, of Country Club Retirement Center, Dover, and formerly of Tuscarawas, died peacefully on Thursday, March 5, 2026, while under the care of Crossroads Hospice.

Born in New Philadelphia, Ohio, on May 14, 1929, Donald was a son of the late Carl A. and Sarah E. Harris Deem. He was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School and was a proud Infantryman with the United States Army during the Korean War.

On July 3, 1951, days before joining the Army, he married the love of his life, Jane Louise Limbach, and together the couple raised two daughters and have shared in nearly 75 years of marriage.

Donald served the Village of Tuscarawas for 25 years as the postmaster and was a longtime member of the Tuscarawas VFW Post 7943, where he served as past Post Commander and served on the Honor Guard.

Donald was an avid golfer and bowler who, for a period of time, toured with the Professional Bowlers’ Association, and later was inducted into the Tuscarawas County Bowlers’ Hall of Fame. Together, Donald and Jane enjoyed wintering in Florida and Texas, attending Postmaster Conventions, Army reunions, and made countless trips to Las Vegas.

In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by his daughters, Dana (John) Overholt and Wendy (Dave) Cihon, both of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Trey (Alanna) Overholt, and Evan (Leslie) Cihon; great-grandchildren, Jack, Eleni, and Frankie Overholt, and Nora and Miles Cihon; as well as his nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by a sister, Glenna Mae Long, and a brother, Trevor Deem.

The family will greet guests in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 10 – 10:30 AM, where a memorial service led by Chaplain John Morgan will begin at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia, where members of the Carl C. Stoller Post 1445, of the New Philadelphia VFW will render military honors.
