Deloris Dyer

Deloris Ann Dyer, age 78, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully, Wednesday, July 12, 2023, in her residence, surrounded by her family, following a period of declining health.

Born in Spencer, West Virginia on August 13, 1944, Dee, as she was known to family and friends was a daughter of the late Lawrence “Pete” and Erline Nichols Carpenter.

As a teen, the family relocated to the Akron area and Dee graduated from Akron South High School. She married the love of her life, Gary D. Dyer on October 19, 1963. Together the couple raised three children and ultimately settled in New Philadelphia where the family attended what is now, Broadway Global Methodist Church. In her younger years, Dee worked for Firestone Bank and later for the family business, Herco. However, the job she loved most was being a wife, mom, and grandma.

She was devoted, loving, kind, caring, and loyal to not only her beloved family but to her friends as well. Dee enjoyed spending time in nature walking through the woods, riding horses, playing tennis, and golfing, where she earned the nickname, Miss Sugar, from her golfing pals. She also enjoyed a good game of Bridge.

In addition to her husband of nearly 60 years, Dee will be missed by her children, Christopher (Nancy) Dyer of Fairlawn, Gregory (Tammy) Dyer, and Kimberly (fiancé, Doug Clum) Dyer-Devore all of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Shane Dyer, Chad Anderson, Kiley and Kayla Dyer, and Sydney and Louis Devore; her siblings, Gary (JoAnn) Carpenter, John Carpenter, Richard Carpenter, and Brenda Briley as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Dee was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Bettye Carpenter and Patricia Carpenter.

In keeping with Dee’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. Cremation care has been handled by the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.

Memorial contributions in Dee’s name may be directed to Interim Hospice, 450 N. 3rd Street, Coshocton, OH 43812.
