Delores Metcalf, 93, of New Philadelphia, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2026 in her home following a period of declining health.

Born February 19, 1933 in New Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Florence “Evelyn” (Evans) Mazzalini. Delores worked for over 25 years for the New Philadelphia High School in their food services.

Delores loved reading and riding her bike. But her greatest joy was found in attending all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities. She also attended the Midvale United Methodist Church. On May 1, 1954, she married Ted Metcalf and together shared over 66 years of marriage before his passing in February of 2021.

She is survived by children, Kay (Allen) Shanabrook, Teddy (Missy) Metcalf and Frank (Sunny) Metcalf all of New Philadelphia; eight grandchildren, David (Rachel McLandsborough) Shanabrook, Kristen (Joe) Parker, Daniel (Natalie) Shanabrook, Amy (Mike) McCauley, Samantha (Chris) Anderson, Adam Metcalf, Matt (Michelle Alborn) Metcalf, and T.J. (Tina Beckett) Metcalf; 14 great grandchildren; and sisters, Shirley (Joe) Vesco, and Vicki (Mark) Bassett.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, Todd Alan Metcalf; daughter-in-law, Sandra Metcalf; brother, Joe Mazzalini; and infant sister.

In keeping with Delores’s wishes, a private family graveside service will be held in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
