Delores Alice Albertine, age 80, of Midvale, died peacefully early Saturday afternoon, December 8, 2007 in Schoenbrunn Health Care at New Philadelphia. Born in Union Township, October 4, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Ward D. and Thelma Lewis Kerr. Better known as Dorie to her family and friends, she attended school and cared for her family at home. At the age of 11, Dorie was thrust to the helm of her household when her mother died following an explosion in her kitchen. Dorie tended to the needs of her three sisters with great care and skill. On July 11, 1946, she married Virgil Albertine, an acquaintance since childhood. The couple reared a family with Dorie as the homemaker and observed forty-one years of marriage before Virgil’s death November 7, 1987. Dorie was a self-professed private person. Were it not for Virgil’s persistence, she admitted to her family that she likely would have never dated or married. A son and two daughters are thankful she did though, and will miss their mother’s great skill in the kitchen, where she loved to bake pies. Dorie delighted in fishing, especially the Tappan and Clendening Lakes. Survivors include her son Ronald L. Albertine of Midvale, and daughters Valerie A. (husband Butch) Kalp of Dover, and Rebecca J. (husband Steven) Keesey of Tuscarawas. Sisters, Evelyn L. (husband Francis) Staab of Sugarcreek, and Mary (husband Milford C.) Dessecker of New Philadelphia; grandchildren Amanda (husband Terry) DiDonato of Uhrichsville, Michelle Keesey of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Christina (husband Troy) Wigfield of New Philadelphia, and Michael Keesey of Canton, Ohio, also survive. Two great-grandchildren, Nathan and Ryan DiDonato complete the family. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Albertine is preceded in death by her brother, Ward Delbert “Bud” Kerr, when he was 9 years old, and her sister Norma “Jean” Williams. Private services will be held Monday in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with interment alongside her husband in Evergreen Burial Park. There are no public calling hours. The Albertine family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Linn-Hert-Geib(330) 343-5506www.geibfuneral.com
