Delmis V. Riddle, 83, formerly of New Philadelphia died peacefully at New Dawn Health Care on Friday, November 28, 2025.
He was born in Burt House, West Virginia on March 2, 1942, a son of the late Ray Ferris and Mary (Bell) Riddle.
Delmis served stateside in the US Army during the Vietnam War as a cook, and earned a Good Conduct Medal and Sharpshooter badge. After leaving the service, Delmis worked at Babcock- Wilcox for many years
He was a quiet man with a gentle soul, who was proud of his West Virginia roots. He had a great passion for classic country music, often referring to himself as a “Honky-Tonk Man” . In his free time, he enjoyed classic cars, playing card games and watching western movies. One of the things he liked to do was drive around with his great-niece Angie and talk about all the old vehicles he would see, which would put a smile on his face.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews and their families.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers David, Dale and Dana Riddle and sisters Ramona Brinkman and Roberta Piggott.
A memorial Service celebrating Delmis will be held in the Linn Hert Geib Funeral Home & Crematory, at New Philadelphia on Saturday December 13, 2025 at 4:00 PM. The Carl C. Stoller Post 1445 VFW will offer military honor at the beginning of the service. The family will greet guests one hour prior to the start of the service. He will be laid to rest at New Mount Olive Cemetery in Burnt House, West Virginia at a later date.
