Delmar L. Straub, age 94, of Dover passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026, in Ohio’s Hospice Truman House following a period of declining health.
Born in Dover, on June 5, 1931, Delmar was a son of the late Louis E. and Minnie M. (Kaserman) Straub. On October 10, 1954, he married the former Jean Baker and together they enjoyed 61 years of marriage before her passing in 2016.
Delmar honorably served in the United States Marine Corp in Water Supply stationed in Puerto Rico. He was a hard worker, working for 50 plus years for Robinson Clay, the now Minteq International Inc in Parral. In his free-time, for many years he was an avid fisherman spending one week every June fishing for walleye at Pymatuning Lake with his family and friends. Delmar loved to hunt, enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. He was former president and life-time member of the Pine Hill Hunting Club.
He is survived by his daughter, Beth Cadle of Dover; grandchildren, John Cadle, Daniel (Kara) Cadle, Bryan (Jeremy Dineen) Straub, Melissa (Andrew) Burrell, Justin (Janelle) Straub, and Kristin Straub; great-grandchildren, Lilli and Greyson Cadle, and Brody Burrell; daughter-in-law, Cathy Straub; and sister-in-law, Donna Baker.
In addition to his parents and wife, Delmar was preceded in death by his sons, Rick Straub, and Greg Straub; and brothers, Glenn Straub and Lloyd Straub.
Cremation care has been entrusted to the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory. A private family graveside service with military honors will be held in the spring. A public celebration of Delmar’s life will also be announced at a later date.
