David E. Sours

David E. Sours, 80, of Brightwood, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2023 at Country Club Retirement Campus at Dover, following a period of declining health.

Born at Dover, David was the son of the late Elmer and Grace (Miller) Sours and a 1961 graduate of the former Midvale High School. David began his work career as a front desk clerk at the former Reeves Hotel at New Philadelphia and then had worked for many years at Midtown Dry Cleaners at New Philadelphia. David then retired from Express Packaging at Newcomerstown where he worked as a Custodian.

David was a lifetime member of the Midvale Methodist Church and had perfect attendance at both Sunday School and the church service for many years. In his spare time, David enjoyed attending the races at Midvale Speedway as well as going to other racetracks around the area.

Surviving are his two sisters, Elva Johnson of Dennison and Martha Hobart of New Philadelphia; his niece and longtime caregiver, Karen Schwartz of New Philadelphia and 154 nieces and nephews spanning across five generations.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by five siblings, Benton Sours, Charles Sours, Nina Sours, Frannie Day and George Sours.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 10:30 AM in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia with Rev. Kory Rowland officiating. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling burial arrangements.
