David Roth, age 60, of Dover passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in his home after an extended illness.
Born on March 7, 1965, in Dover, he was a son of the late John E. Roth and Rebecca “Becky” (Lawrence) Roth.
David worked for over 34 years for the Times Reporter and Canton Repository as a Press Operator. In his free-time David enjoyed fishing and wood working. He was also an avid Cleveland and OSU sports fan. He loved to cheer for the Browns, Indians, and Ohio State Buckeyes. He was also a fan of the New England Patriots.
Always a dedicated husband and father, David coached the Special Olympics teams for many years and enjoyed traveling with Cathy. On October 24, 1987, he married the former Cathy Flachofsky. Together they enjoyed 38 years of marriage.
David is survived by his wife Cathy; children, Johnathan D. (Lyndsey) Roth of Canton, and Allison M. Roth of Dover; mother, Rebecca Roth of New Philadelphia; brothers, Douglas (Diane) Roth, and Dale (Bill Franke) Roth; niece, Elizabeth (Hunter) Farrow; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Roth.
The family will greet guests on Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM in Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Pastor Floyd Stanfill will lead a service honoring David’s life beginning at 4:00 PM in the funeral home.
David never met a stranger in his life. He enjoyed talking with anyone. Although not a veteran, David was dedicated to supporting organizations that help veterans who struggled with contemplating suicide. The family requests that donations in David’s memory be made to Save22.vet.
