David John Meese, age 66, of Massillon, died Friday, April 17, 2026, in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a lengthy illness.

Born on November 4, 1959, in Union Hospital at Dover, David was a son of George “Eddie” Meese, Sr. and Joann Basiletti Meese Wolfe.

He was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School and worked for Belden Brick for many years before relocating to Goshen, Indiana, where he worked on RVs and buses.

David enjoyed fishing. riding his e-bike, being with his friends, playing cards, and being an animal lover. Those who knew him were well aware of his kind, gentle disposition.

He is survived by his children, April (Jared Ries) Hodgson of Minnesota and David “DJ” Meese, Jr. of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Joelle Manley, Alex Manley, and Marcus Manley; a great-grandson, Motley Clark; a sister, Deborah (Kirby) Smith of Baltic; two brothers, George E. ”Bud” (Irina) Meese, Jr. of New Philadelphia, and Mark (Holly) Meese of Michigan; a half-sister, Angela Meese of New Philadelphia; a step-sister, Kris Jones of Pennsylvania; his step-mother, Sue Meese of Bolivar, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his mother and father, David was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Oakley Clark, and his stepfather, Jack Wolfe.

There will be no public visitation or services. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling arrangements.
