David Edward Hoelscher, age 79, of Mineral City, died Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in his residence following a period of declining health.
Born in Dover, Ohio on June 13, 1946, David was a son of the late Vincent Eldon and Thelma Lillie Cantrell Hoelscher.
After proudly serving his country as a member of the United States Army, David worked for many years as a diesel mechanic for Ergon Trucking of Magnolia, Ohio.
On March 7, 1970, David married the former Linda Sue Jones and together the couple raised two sons and shared in 52 years of marriage prior to Linda’s passing on June 24, 2022. Together their faith was nurtured at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in New Philadelphia.
David enjoyed caring for his dogs, and spent 15 years as a breeder of Shar Pei. He also enjoyed spending time at Atwood Lake, fishing and boating and spending time with his family.
He is survived by a son, Jason (Joyce) Hoelscher of Mineral City; grandchildren, Paige Eileen Hoelscher, Brittany (companion, Dale Cerett) Tustin, James Conner, and Adam (companion, Stephanie Emery) Conner; great-grandchildren, Corvo, Keerstein, Lilly, Mavrick, Hendrix and Jacey; his siblings, Ruth Coffman of Pennsylvania, Fred Coffman of Alabama, and John Coffman of Texas; a sister-in-law, Kathy Jones of Navarre, as well as his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, David was preceded in death by a son, Paige Edward Hoelscher; his step-dad, Raymond Coffman; and a sister, Rose Workman.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 11 AM in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 521 Stratton Avenue SW, New Philadelphia. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory is handling arrangements.
