Daniel C. Coenen

Daniel C. Coenen, 88 of Dover, Ohio passed away peacefully at the Inn at Northwood after a brief illness on March 2, 2026.

He was born November 9, 1937, in Los Angeles, California. He married the late Jane E. Telle/Mckenzie in 1973. He became the stepfather of Mark, Mike, Joe, Jim, Kathey, Mary Ann and Tim McKenzie.

Dan lived a humble life which was devoted to simplicity and a sensitivity to how his presence may have an impact on the wellbeing of his small place on earth which he called his home. He took great care not to disturb the rhythm of nature as the world around him disregarded that concern. He saw the divine in the mystery of the cosmos, which motivated him, like so many of us, to ponder the meaning of life. He also lamented the items he had no choice but to purchase, because they could only become “trash” after their useful purpose was exhausted. He honored his responsibility to be the best steward for the gifts of nature and mankind by taking very little and giving if ever he believed he accumulated more than he needed.

Dan is survived by all of his step-children and step-grandchildren; as well as his nephews, Paul and Craig Coenen; grandnephew, Athens; as well as his beloved sister-in-law, Julie Coenen, all of California.

May Dan join his wife, Jane, our mother, his late brother, George Coenen, and beloved mother, Liz in the mystery of the eternal unknown in peace… Amen.

As per Dan’s wishes there will be no calling hours. If you wish to honor Dan’s life of frugality and stewardship plant something, anything and care for it dearly!
