Cy S Raber

Cy S. Raber, age 87, of Stone Creek, died Monday, January 19, 2009, in New Dawn Retirement Center at Dover.A son of the late Jess and Pearl (Mizer) Raber, Cy was born March 23, 1921, at Stone Creek.He attended school in Paulus School near Stone Creek and in 1942 entered into the United States Army. Cy Served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II. Upon his separation in 1945, he had received the Good Conduct Medal, a Bronze Star, and numerous other decorations for his service to his country.For more than 43 years, Cy worked for Stone Creek Brick. Being outdoors is where Cy was most at home. He enjoying farming, hunting, fishing, and camping.Cy was also a fan of Country Music and often attended Jamboree in the Hills. Additionally, He was a long time member of the Tuscarawas VFW.He is survived by two brothers, Tony (Norma) Raber of Strasburg and Dennis (Norma) Raber of Stone Creek. Three nieces Vickie (Tweed) Voorhees, Diane (David) Mizer, Glenetta (Dennis) LeGlise; and two nephews, Larry (Lynn) Stephan and Barry (Jeri) Hiles complete the family.In addition to his parents, Cy is preceded in death by a brother, Gene Raber; and three sisters, Helen Stephan, Okie Raber, and Sally Hiles.The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 22, 2009, from 5:00 â?? 7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and again one hour prior to services from 9:30 â?? 10:30 AM on Friday, January, 23, 2009. Services will be led by Pastor Paul Houdashelt at 10:30 AM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in the Stone Creek Cemetery.The family requests that memorial contributions in Cy’s name may be sent to the Stone Creek Volunteer Fire Department, 128 Ash Alley, Stone Creek, Ohio 43840.
