Clyde Russell Jones, age 75, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully Sunday morning, November 13, 2005 in Aultman Hospital at Canton. Born at Dover, September 20, 1930, Clyde was a son of the late Clyde Russell and Maxine Holdsworth Jones Sr. Clyde grew up in Dover, and graduated from Dover High School with the class of 1948. Clyde joined the United States Marine Corps and served two years in Korea before returning to the Tuscarawas Valley. Following graduation, Clyde attended business school before he began working at the former Union Camp at Dover, now known as International Paper. Clyde was known for his dedication and punctuality. Clyde retired as a mechanic from Union Camp in 1992 after 42 years of service and an impeccable attendance record. In that forty-two years, he missed just seven days of work, and was never tardy once. When not working, Clyde could be found taking in the beauty of the outdoors. A familiar face on area golf courses, Clyde also enjoyed canoeing with his family at Leesville Lake and area rivers. Until recent years, Clyde and his wife frequented many of the local dances, and was proud that he and his wife danced every dance. Mr. Jones was an active member and volunteer in the ministry of Broadway United Methodist Church. Clyde leaves behind the love of his life, his dance partner, and co-captain on the canoe Â? his wife of thirty-six years, Sallie Winspear Jones of New Philadelphia, two daughters, Tami Rolli and Jennifer (Darren) Rowland both of New Philadelphia; three sons, Bret (Bobbi) Newton of Strasburg, Doug Newton of New Philadelphia, and Troy Jones and his fiancé Jeryl Speicher of Navarre.He’ll be sadly missed by his grandchildren Â? whom he loved dearly Â? Mandi, Maria, Michael, Michelle, Joe, Rachel, Kyle, Kory, Kurt and Kasey as well as four great-grandchildren, Mariah, Malachi, Natasha, and Aiden .Three sisters, Mary Lou (Chuck) Orr of Lancaster, Ohio, JoAnn Deibel of Strasburg and Terri (Robert) Schaar of Dover, and a brother, Robert (Linda) Jones of Dover complete the family. Friends are invited to call Wednesday evening from 5 until 8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Bill Sowers will lead a funeral service celebrating Clyde’s life Thursday morning at 10:30 in Broadway United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia where members of the VFW Post # 1445 at New Philadelphia will render military honors. Following the committal service, a reception will be given in the fellowship hall at Broadway United Methodist Church.
