Cliff Bronson

Clifford B. Bronson, 91, of Strasburg, passed away peacefully in his home on June 30, 2024 in his home following a period of declining health.

Born in Owosso, Michigan on May 2, 1933 he was the son of the late Pearl and Alice (Robbins) Bronson. After graduating from Owosso High School in Michigan, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he honorably served his country. Upon discharge, he completed his Bachelor’s Degree at Michigan State University and his Master’s Degree at Boston College.

Cliff served the Strasburg Schools in a variety of capacities including teaching math for 38 years, coaching the varsity boys track team and assisting the head football coach for numerous years.

Cliff was recognized for his outstanding coach when he was inducted into the Strasburg Athletic Hall of Fame in 2023.

He was also an avid reader, completing several newspapers a day, then continuing onto fictional writings. Cliff also loved to share meals with his family and friends at restaurants and enjoyed traveling. He cheered on the Michigan Wolverines throughout his lifetime, too.

Cliff married the former Bonnie S. Resh on July 19, 1977. In addition to Bonnie, Cliff’s family includes his son, Brock (Sasha) Bronson and their infant daughter, Cora, of Uniontown; his daughter, Janine (Jim) Johnston of Columbia, South Carolina; his sisters, Donna Palmer and Lois Dixon; his sister-in-law, Denise Frutig; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in passing by his parents, and his granddaughter, Nicole Calcote.

A private service and burial in Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg will take place later this week.

The Bronson family is eternally grateful for the exceptional care and concern they received in Cliff’s final months from the nurses and aides with Interim Hospice.
