Clara Crawford, age 84, of Dover, died Tuesday, January 9, 2024, following a period of declining health, while in the care of Community Hospice’s Truman House at New Philadelphia.

Born in Lewisville, Ohio on March 21, 1939, Clara was a daughter of the late Elmer and Vesta Mae Morris.

She was a graduate of Lewisville High School and on March 20, 1957, in Woodsfield, Ohio married John Grover Crawford, who preceded her in death following nearly 48 years of marriage. As a couple they raised four children and enjoyed traveling together having visited KOA campgrounds all over the United States and enjoyed a memorable trip to Hawaii.

Clara was an employee of Kleen Test Products at Strasburg and a longtime member of the Church of Christ at New Philadelphia. Her hobbies included being on the go, crocheting, shopping, going to the movies, boat rides at Atwood Lake and continued traveling and vacationing with family and friends.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Cynthia Colvin of Newcomerstown, Lisa (Jim) Rothacher of Winfield, and Michael Crawford of Dover; her grandchildren, Regina (Robert) Contrael, Lee Swauger, Crystal (Jarrett) Antal, John Crawford, Jesse (Rachel) Rothacher, Kaci Rothacher, Tyler Crawford, Karley Crawford, and Houston Crawford and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Roger (Barb) Morris of Barnesville, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Clara was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Crawford; three brothers, Jesse Morris, Ernie Morris, and Dale Morris; and a sister, Dorothy Hannahs.

In keeping with Clara’s wishes there will be no public visitation or services. She will be interred with her husband at Dover Burial Park.
