Charles Joseph “Toss” Bridgewater, age 84, of Dover, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Thursday, May 29, 2025, while under the care of Crossroads Hospice while in Park Village Retirement Center at Dover.
Born on January 20, 1941, in Litchfield, Illinois, Toss, was a son of the late George and Ruby Roach Bridgewater.
On May 9, 1959, Toss married the love of his life, the former Judith “Judy” Lowry. Together, they recently celebrated 66 years of marriage—a remarkable testament to their enduring love and partnership. United in faith, they worshiped at NewPointe Community Church in Dover, where they volunteered at numerous events. On Sunday mornings, Toss was often found greeting others with a warm smile and friendly hello as they entered the church—one of many ways he lived out his kindness.
Toss dedicated 49 years to the engineering field, with two notable 18-year tenures at Imperial Plastics in Rittman and Sugarcreek Window and Door. His expertise was grounded in academic achievement, holding degrees in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering Technology, and Business Management which he obtained from Kent State University at Tuscarawas and Malone University. In retirement, he continued to serve his community as a Staff Associate with Geib Funeral Homes.
Those who knew Toss remember him as a caring, loving, and devoted gentleman. He cherished time outdoors—fishing and boating on Atwood Lake, hunting, and walking his beloved dog, Baby, a Jack Russell-Beagle mix. He found joy in family vacations, especially to Myrtle Beach and Orlando, Florida. A true comfort food enthusiast, Toss never turned down a plate of homemade sausage gravy and fresh biscuits. Above all, he deeply loved his family and never hesitated to do anything for them.
In addition to his beloved wife, Judy, Toss will be deeply missed by his daughters, Terri (Bob) Argent of Massillon and Marsha (Guy) Schrock of Sugarcreek; his granddaughters, Kathryn (Willliam) Pringle, and Emily (Michael) Reneker; five great-grandchildren, Christian, Colton, Laynee, Liviana, and Bennett as well as his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Toss was preceded in death by his brother, George A. (Sharon) Bridgewater.
The family will greet guests on Saturday, June 7, 2025, in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover from 10 – 11 AM. A celebration of his life will be led by Pastor Brian Flood at 11 AM. Following the service, all are invited to share in a meal and fellowship in the Hospitality Room of the Dover Funeral Center. A private family burial will take place in the Dover Burial Park at a later date.
