Charles Edward Bowersock, Sr, age 82, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, July 5, 2026, while in Specialty Select Hospital at Cleveland, following a period of declining health.
Born on January 25, 1944, in Bloomingdale, Ohio, Charles was a son of the late Carl and Virginia Maestro Bowersock. He was a graduate of Bloomingdale High School and served in the United States Marines Reserve for a period of time after graduation.
Charles owned and operated the former SOHIO gas station in Dover for a number of years before going into car sales and later relocating to Valdosta, Georgia, where he worked in a burlap bag manufacturing facility until his retirement.
A lifelong lover of music, Charles enjoyed traveling as an Elvis impersonator, singing Karaoke, performing with his band, The Roustabouts, following and ultimately befriending, Country singer, Ronnie McDowell, and traveling.
Charles is survived by three children, Charles E. (Annette) Bowersock, Jr. of Port Richey, Florida, Sean Bowersock of Holiday, Florida, and Lisa Bowersock of New Philadelphia, as well as his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthis Bowersock on April 17, 2002; two brothers, and a sister.
In honoring his wishes, there will be no public services. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling cremation care.
