Charlene W. Espenschied - "Together Again"

Charlene W. Espenschied, 86, of New Philadelphia, and formerly of Wainwright, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023 in Country Club Retirement Campus at Dover, following a period of declining health.

 

A daughter of the late George and Helen (Blackwell) Hupp, Charlene was born October 20, 1937 in her family home at New Philadelphia.

 

Charlene will be fondly remembered by many as a waitress at the former Bonvechio’s Restaurant at Wainwright and the former Espenschied’s Restaurant at Dover as well as the former Activities Director at Country Club Retirement Campus at Dover. Charlene was a member of the Church of Christ at New Philadelphia where she had taught bible study classes in addition to being a member, along with her husband, of the Yellow Jackets Motorcycle Club. She loved preparing Italian food for her family but most of all, she loved and cherished being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

On August 3, 1953, Charlene married Willard L. Espenschied and together celebrated over 65 years of marriage until his passing in October of 2018. Surviving are her children, Rita (Mike) Tarulli of Matthews, North Carolina, Helen Jean Warner of New Philadelphia, W. Lee Espenschied of Amhurst and Cynthia Patton of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Saundra Davis, Jason Tarulli, Weslee, Ashlee and Kaylee Patton, Derick and Jinnalee Espenschied and Jimmy and Jillian Warner; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Julene Graham of New Philadelphia and a brother, Dean Davis of Dennison.

 

In addition to her parents and her husband, Charlene was also preceded in death by her three sisters, Gaye Stockwell, Beth Keiser, Janet Ranta and three brothers, Don Hupp, Tom Hupp and Fred Davis.

 

In keeping with Charlene’s wishes there will be no calling hours or services and cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
