Chad Douglas Swinderman, 45, of Canton, passed away of an apparent heart attack on December 28, 2025.
Born in Dover on February 16, 1980, he was the son of Sharon D. (Doane) Swinderman and the late John Douglas “Doug” Swinderman.
After graduating from Indian Valley High School in 1999, Chad went on to spend his professional career as the owner and operator of Swinderman and Sons. He cherished his role as “Papa” to his grandchildren, Aubrey, Rhett, and Kinsley. Not a day went by that he didn’t stop in to see them or connect through FaceTime. Chad was an avid sports fan and previously enjoyed riding his Harley alongside his late brother, Keith West.
Above all, Chad put others before himself. He would bend over backward to help anyone in need and was truly a family man at heart.
Chad will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his children, Jordan (Bianca), Jarrett, Jeremiah and Rylynn Swinderman; his grandchildren, Aubrey, Rhett and Kinsley Swinderman; his mother, Sharon Swinderman; siblings, Lynzee (Brock) Abel, Jo Ann (Mike) Slunski and Ken Greenwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, Chad was preceded in passing by his uncle, Roger Swinderman; and his brother, Keith West.
Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 N Wooster Ave., Dover, on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. A service celebrating Chad’s life will be held in the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 1:30 p.m. with Brian Flood officiating. Burial will follow in Schoenbrunn Meadow Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
In memory of Chad, please show kindness and pay it forward to someone in need, just as he would have done.
