Carrie M. Abbuhl, age 89, of New Philadelphia, went to be with her Lord and Savior early Sunday, November 19, 2023 while in the care of Community Hospice at Park Village Southside, New Philadelphia.

Born on February 10, 1934, at New Cumberland, Carrie was one of six children born to the late Ralph and Mary (Rennicker) Chaney.

She attended the former Midvale School and on December 5, 1953, she married the love of her life, Donald Abbuhl, Sr. Together the couple co-owned and operated Don’s Appliance Service & Repair. They raised three sons, and celebrated 48 years of marriage prior to his passing on July 14, 2002.

Carried lived a life serving others in countless ways. Her faith was nurtured at the New Philadelphia First Church of the Nazarene where she spent many hours in various volunteer positions including teaching Sunday School. For her family, Carrie was always there to help with school events and activities and never turned down an opportunity to supply her famous baked goods, especially her beautifully decorated cakes, to any special occasion gathering.

Her kind, loving, gentle, spirit will be missed by her sons, Donald Abbuhl, Jr. of Salineville, Rick Abbuhl of Uhrichsville, and John (Michele) Abbuhl of Florida; five grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren, and her siblings, Dorothy Guy, Charlotte (Junior) McRobie, Charles (Carolyn) Chaney, and Robert (Patricia) Chaney. Completing the family are numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in law and countless nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carrie was preceded in death by her twin sister, Alice Llewellyn; a daughter-in-law, Lynthia Carlson Abbuhl, and brothers-in-law, Charles Guy and James Bird.

The family will receive guests on Friday, December 1, 2023, from 10 -11 AM in the New Philadelphia First Church of the Nazarene where a service celebrating her life will begin at 11 AM. Burial in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens will follow.
