Obituary

Carol Sue LeMasters, age 84, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, June 10, 2026, while in the care of Hennis Care Center at Bolivar following a brief illness.

Born in her family home at Sugarcreek on March 11, 1942, Carol was a daughter of the late Ernst and Pauline (Winkleman) Amacher.

She was a 1960 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and on September 27, 1964, married Wayne LeMasters. Together the couple celebrated 30 years of marriage prior to his passing on March 5, 1995.

At a young age Carol began working for the former ALSCO company at Sugarcreek and later transitioned to retail sales as she worked for Montgomery Ward, Kmart, and eventually retired from Sears.

She was a former member of the First Baptist Church at New Philadelphia where she taught Sunday School and later transferred her membership to Jerusalem Church. Carol’s free time was enjoyed by playing Bingo, making trips to Mountaineer Casino, and spending Sundays with family playing Canasta and Jass.

She will be missed by her daughters, Jamie (Jody) Seward of Bolivar, and Missy (Darrell) Daniel of New Philadelphia; her granddaughters, Abigail, Julia, and Laura Seward, and Hannah and Sarah Daniel; her sisters, Betty Lou Hurst and Doris Jean Bailey; a brother, Ernest Amacher, and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by an infant son, Herbert Ernst LeMasters, and two brothers, Richard Amacher and Robert Winkleman.

The family will greet guests on Sunday, June 21, 2026, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Rev. Dr. Tom Hendershot will lead a service celebrating Carol’s life in Jerusalem Church, on Monday, June 22, 2026 at 11 AM. Burial will follow in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover.

Memorial contributions in Carol’s name may be directed to Jerusalem Church, 1417 Stonecreek Road, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
