Obituary

Carol Faye Lada, age 76, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, passed peacefully on July 17, 2026, at New Dawn Rehabilitation and Nursing Home after a period of declining health.

Born on September 11, 1949, Carol lived a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and kindness. She graduated from Jefferson Union High School with the Class of 1967 and went on to build a career through a variety of positions over the years. She worked as a secretary at D'Aniballe Accountants and later at Hawk's Dental Office, served as Assistant Manager at Hardee's, and eventually retired from Dairy Queen, where she made many lasting friendships.

Carol's greatest joy in life was being a devoted wife, mother, and especially a loving Nana. She cherished every opportunity to support her grandchildren, rarely missing a sporting event, concert, or dance recital. A faithful member of New Philadelphia First United Methodist Church, Carol loved teaching Sunday school and spent many years creating crafts for Vacation Bible School, sharing her creativity and love of the Lord with countless children. Her unwavering love, encouragement, and pride in her family will be remembered always.

Carol is survived by her daughters, Tawnya (James) Alpeter and Tiffany (Jason) Baker, both of Dover, Ohio; her beloved grandchildren, Colton and Caden Gribble and Cassandra Baker; her sister, Donna Grimes; her brother, Rick Weekly; her sister-in-law, Joann Lada; her nieces, Carla (Dave) Hull, Taylor Grimes (fiancé, Cameron Lancaster), Audrey Kocher, Joy Islinghood, Kim (Jeff) Prisner, and Sherry (Brad) Varlas; along with many extended family members and dear friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Judson, in 2022; her father, Donald Weekly; her mother, Doris Weekly; her brother, Daryl Dysert; her brother- and sister-in-law, Sam and Shirley Lada; and her brother-in-law, Rainey Grimes.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation from 10 :30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover with the service beginning at 11:30 a.m. Burial will immediately follow the service at Dover Burial Park.

Carol's legacy of love, dedication to her family, steadfast faith, and gentle spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
