Carol June Barr, 88, of Canton, passed away on August 9, 2026, at The Inn at University Village in Massillon.
Born January 27, 1938, in Columbus, Ohio, Carol was a daughter of the late William A. Becker Sr. and Mildred June (Lightel) Becker. She graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1956.
Following high school, Carol married her high school sweetheart, the late David Patrick. While David was serving in the military, the couple lived in Spain for a year, beginning what would become Carol’s lifelong love of travel and adventure. Carol returned home, where she worked as a bookkeeper.
In 1968, Carol joined her mother in the family-owned Becker Realty, where she worked as a Realtor until the company closed. She later worked for State Aerial. An entrepreneur at heart, Carol was independent, energetic and always ready for a new experience.
In 1983, Carol married Roy Barr, and together they shared many wonderful adventures over the years. Carol and Roy purchased a Rockwell airplane and enjoyed traveling to air shows and visiting family members throughout the country. Although Carol never soloed, she completed ground school and shared Roy’s enthusiasm for flying.
Carol was also an avid golfer and proudly achieved the golfer’s dream of making a hole-in-one! With Roy owning a golf course in Canton, the game became another special part of the life they shared.
Their love of travel extended to the open road. Carol and Roy spent many memorable years traveling in their motor home, visiting numerous states and countries and making lasting memories along the way.
Later in life, Carol gave her time as a volunteer at Mercy Hospital in Canton. She was also an enthusiastic line dancer and belonged to a line-dancing club. She especially enjoyed performing with the group at county fairs and nursing homes, where they brought music, movement and smiles to the residents.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Barr of Canton; her children, Brenda (Glen) Morse of New London, Ohio, Dwight “Ike” (Dana) Patrick of Rowlett, Texas, and Craig Patrick of Sorrento, Florida; stepchildren, Pattye (Gary) Stragar, Pam (Dan) Moretta, Peggy (Steve) DeOrio, Philip (Mary) Barr, Palmer (Sherri) Barr and Polly (Brian) Benson; grandchildren, Carrie Morse, Kristen Patrick and Brett Patrick; numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and her brother-in-law, Jeff Smith.
In addition to her parents, William A. Becker Sr. and Mildred June (Lightel) Becker, Carol was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Lindsay Morse and Joel Patrick; her sister, Linda Smith; and her brother, William A. Becker Jr.
