Carl David Hurst, age 84, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully Wednesday, January 11, 2023 in Park Village Assisted Living at Dover.
Born June 9, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late Carl T. and Kathrine (Dienst) Hurst.
David was a 1956 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. After graduation he began videotaping football and basketball games for the Quakers. He will be a 2023 Inductee to the Quaker Club Sports Hall of Fame. Along with videotaping the Quakers he also did the video for Muskingum University Football team.
David was retired from TV Specialties in Dover. He had many passions in his life, watching NASCAR, traveling the world with his wife Betty, and photography. But his biggest love was spending time with his family.
David will be deeply missed by his wife, Betty (Amacher) Hurst who he married on April 8, 1961; daughters, Lori (John) Perkowski of Dover and Nicole (Michael) Raiff of Pace, Florida; grandchildren, Justin (Erin) Perkowski, Dr. Casey (Kourtney) Perkowski, Trey (Brittany) Perkowski, Brianna Raiff and Thomas Raiff; great-grandchildren, Piper, Bella, Kinley, Rory, Jase, Sawyer, Reagan, and McGuire Perkowski; brothers, Thomas (Peggy) Hurst and John “Jack” (Carole) Hurst; and sister-in-law, Janet Hurst.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tim Hurst.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia from 5 to 8 p.m. An Elks Service will be at 7:45 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. John Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery in New Philadelphia.
