Brett R. Grygo, 37, of New Albany, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly in his home on November 14, 2023.

Born in Dover on May 13, 1986, he was the son of Marilyn (Hicks) and David Douglas of Dover and the late Ronald Grygo.

Brett graduated from Dover High School in 2004 and continued his formal education at The Ohio State University where he obtained a degree in Chemical Engineering in 2009. He spent the next 5 years working as an engineer in a profession that challenged him. Brett then began his education at the University of Notre Dame where he completed his MBA, allowing him to continue his professional career in business and finance, which were Brett’s true passions.

He loved money and finance and all things related to the subject. Brett had a very successful career working for several notable and prestigious companies including L. Brands, currently.

Additionally, he was the “humor in the room” and loved to keep his family and friends on their toes. In addition to the finance field, Brett focused his attention on golf, Improv, and fitness the past few years.

He will be deeply missed by his family including the love of his life, Monica Grygo; his parents, Marilyn and Dave Douglas of Dover; his siblings, Brian (Brenda) Grygo and Brittany Geers; his cherished niece, Kendall Geers; and his pets, Zuka, Sherman, Eddie, Bodhi, Dottie, and Ally. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins complete Brett’s family.

In addition to his father, Ronald Grygo, Brett was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lester and Jean Hicks and Emil and Anne Grygo.

A private gathering will take place in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover and ultimately, his cremated remains will be buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dennison.
